Our metal recycling facility has been operating in Independence, Kansas since 1998 and services a 60-mile radius including Montgomery County, Wilson County, Chautauqua County, Labette County and Osage County. When visiting our facility, you will find fully paved drives and unloading areas for your convenience.

Safety is our top priority for everyone on-site, so we keep our facility clean and have regulations in place to ensure everyone can have a safe and efficient experience at CMC Recycling.

Our team takes pride in being involved with our local community through the Independence Chamber of Commerce and the Independence Riverside Park. CMC Recycling in Independence is located at the intersection of West Maple and South 20th Street, just south of the overpass. Payment Guidelines

We follow all Kansas state laws as well as federal laws on restricted and regulated scrap metal. You must provide a valid driver’s license or government identification to sell your scrap material. If you are selling a vehicle, you must provide a title.

What We Don't Accept

  • Hazardous waste (including asbestos)
  • PCB/Transformers/Capacitors
  • Any CFCs
  • Ballasts
  • Cylinders or other containers of compressed gas (including propane)
  • NiCad-Batteries
  • Radioactive materials
  • Mercury / mercury switches
  • PCB containing materials such as capacitors or light ballasts
  • Sealed containers
  • Liquids of any type
  • Radioactive materials
  • Flammable materials
  • Trash, garbage, concrete and other non-recyclable items
  • Broken, cracked, or leaking batteries
  • Office machines and electronic equipment, such as fax machines, copiers, scanners, computers and monitors
  • Materials with strong or objectionable odors
  • Materials containing asbestos
  • Unidentifiable materials
  • Munitions, bullets or explosives
